About Me

Capucine Korenberg – About me

I’m a thoughtful therapist with a love of art and nature. Appreciating art and wondering at the ever-evolving beauty of nature remind me of the importance of exploration and discovery in our own lives. In therapy, I aim to offer you a safe, supportive space for you to explore your experiences.

Psychotherapy is a proven path to feeling better and overcoming mental health challenges. As a trained scientist with 25+ years of research experience, I use evidence-based approaches in my counselling practice.

I hold a Certificate in Therapeutic Skills from the Metanoia Institute and am currently in the process of completing my MSc in Contemporary Person-Centred Psychotherapy. I’m registered with UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) as a trainee psychotherapist.

I’ve volunteered as a counsellor at Kingston’s Women Centre since 2023, and previously at Metanoia Counselling and Psychotherapy Service.

My Approach

My practice is grounded in Carl Rogers’ humanistic psychology, which believes that every individual has the inner resources for growth and fulfilment. Sometimes, life can block access to these resources. My aim is to help you not only overcome current difficulties but also to support you in accessing your inherent resources and understanding to face future challenges confidently.

“We cannot change, we cannot move away from what we are, until we thoroughly accept what we are. Then change seems to come about almost unnoticed.”

Carl Rogers

My Journey

My journey to psychotherapy has been shaped by an unconventional path. With an MSc in Physics and a PhD in Materials Science, I have been an academic researcher in heritage science for 20+ years, blending my passion for art and science.

While academic research has been fulfilling, I realised some years ago that something was missing. This led to a period of reflection and growth, ultimately guiding me to psychotherapy, where I found a profound sense of purpose.

Training in psychotherapy has allowed me to merge my analytical mindset with empathetic understanding. This diverse background enables me to offer a distinctive perspective in my practice, combining deep compassion with scientific rigour.

“Connection is the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard and valued; when they can give and receive without judgement; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.”
